Big Dance Theater

Posted in Dance, Theater with tags , on November 30, 2011 by seatfiller

What I saw last night. Big Dance Theater at the BAM Harvey Theater. Based on the play  “Alkestis” by Euripides this is more theater than dance piece. There is some running in place and an occasional swoon but mostly lines are delivered with the gusto of a Richard Maxwell play and with the set and eclectic performance and audio methods of the Wooster Group. None of it rises to the level of these influencers though. Brings to mind my favorite Euripides joke by I believe Chico Marx. “Euripides you buy a these”
