Rashaun Mitchell & Silas Riener

What I saw last night. Rashaun Mitchell & Silas Riener at Danspace Project. IMG_3655A dance for three men and a woman. The walls and ceiling have been covered in pink. A woman walks out holding a sign over her head like a ring girl or Norma Rae. The sign has instructions to turn off your cell phone etc. Later signs for the exits and then even smaller signs that are impossible to read. Two men lunge about and frequently embrace while the woman tells them to do something else as she drinks tea and eats cake. Another man rolls around on a small dolly aiming a light seemingly indiscriminately. There are some outstretched arms moments between the two dancing men.IMG_3656 They then go behind the fabric to change into silver hot pants while the remaining woman and man play marbles with gumballs. Things conclude with some kind of a wedding or witchy ritual.

Elements: spoken word, costume changes, gumballs, tea, cake, potato chips, books, pink lace, signs, hood, veil
