“The Old Woman” with Mikhail Baryshnikov and Willem Dafoe

What I saw last night. “The Old Woman” by Robert Wilson with Mikhail Baryshnikov and Willem Dafoe at the BAM Opera House. IMG_4399Two men are in a Beckettian story where they are ostensibly looking to get rid of a corpse. It is like a cartoon with sound effects dubbed from a martial arts film. Dafoe sounds like a cross between George Burns and George C Scott while Baryshnikov sounds like he just got into the talkies or with his female impression like Betty Boop.

Elements: suitcase, odd angled chairs and bed, broom, light tubes, big props, clock, face paint, song & dance, gun, box etc.
Titles:The Old Woman” by Daniil Kharms
